Carolina Detour, a powerhouse group of young musicians from North Carolina, represent the next generation of bluegrass musicians! Their sound blends tight harmonies, driving rhythms, and heartfelt storytelling, honoring tradition while igniting it with youthful spirit. As recent winners of the Blue Highway Rising Stars Challenge in Big Stone Gap, VA they prove that the future of bluegrass is in good hands—rooted in tradition, yet ready to take it to the next level!! Members include: 16-year-old fiddler and vocalist Lake Carver (Wilkesboro), 16-year-old guitarist and vocalist Lyla Cherry (Mooresville), 14-year-old guitarist Tae Childress (Statesville), 16-year-old banjo player and vocalist Malachi Bulman, 22-year-old bassist/guitarist Elijah Bulman (both from Pinnacle), and 19-year-old mandolinist and vocalist Cooper Eades (Denver)—have built a devoted following for their fresh, high-energy approach to bluegrass.
