Laura Boosinger & Josh Goforth

Traditional Stage

Fri 26 Apr 2024 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM

Bio:

Josh grew up in Madison County, North Carolina surrounded by the music and stories of his ancestors. He is a highly accomplished old-time, bluegrass, and swing musician playing close to 20 instruments. His fiddling was featured in the movie “Songcatcher,” both onscreen and on the soundtrack. He has performed in all 50 states, throughout Europe, and Japan gracing such stages as Carnegie Hall and The Grand Ole Opry. He was nominated for a GRAMMY for his 2009 release with David Holt, entitled “Cutting Loose.”

Bio:

Laura has won glowing reviews wherever she appears and is blessed with an ‘essence of the mountains’ spirit that can take you back to the good old days when folks used to huddle around the radio. It’s said that people who haven’t seen her ‘live’ should prepare themselves for a “goosepimples experience”. Long ago established as one of the classier performers on the Appalachian old-time circuit, she has developed a faithful following in Europe since first touring here back in 2004. Last year, it was standing room only again everywhere she appeared, thanks to a stage presence, sweet voice and playing style, whether on clawhammer banjo, autoharp or guitar. Laura will be in the company of Josh Goforth, an outstanding musician, acclaimed fiddler, guitar picker and mandolin player, also from North Carolina. “Most of all proves how relevant new Old-Time music is these days. It’s amazing how contemporary and relevant some of their song choices are today, particularly “I’m S-A-V-E-D” and “Peace Precious Peace”. The playing here is, as expected, top-shelf. Boosinger and Goforth are two names that every fan of Appalachian music should definitely get to know.” Martin Anderson WNCW-FM
